Why Babe Theory Was Started

I'm a little concerned, and slightly down as well. The site hasn't had visitors since Aug 24th. This has affected me a little bit because this site was designed from the start with the intent to share and discuss, and to allow me to learn how to build a potentially popular site.

Of course, I could have gone the easy way and introduce nudity, and other traffic driving content. But I chose to stay true to what I feel about this subject and blog about it. Admittedly, the last couple of days have been hectic and it'll be so all weekend due to the many events I will have to attend. One wedding, meeting up with friends that are visiting, and also other friends whom I promised to spend time with.

So, unfortunately this weekend will be used to allow me to re-compose, re-focus, but rest assured that I will be back, and restart the content, refocus on bringing exposure to the site and delivering the best babe theories you've ever seen!

Request to readers!

I know this is sort of a cop-out post. I wasn't able to sit down and write about today's babe due to other obligations in my life. But I nevertheless wanted to write an entry everyday. So I want to put out a request for anybody viewing this post.

I would like your recommendation of babes. Is it because I'm running out of names on my list? No, there are still quite a lot of the list that haven't been explored. But one thing I noticed is that there tends to be a few ethnic races I'm neglecting. Not because I have any bias towards them, but I am simply not exposed or knowledgable about that population. Therefore I don't know too many that can fit the babe qualities.

I would also like to make this site more interactive! So I'm looking for suggestions of babes for me to research and add to my list. I'm looking for babes of these origins:
  • Indian
  • Brazilian
  • South-East Asian (Malaysian, Philipines)
  • Australian
  • Polynesian
  • Middle-Eastern / Egyptian
Those are the types of babes that are more rare on my list. Hope you are willing to help!

Famke Janssen

"I am for you, Alrick of Valt", those were the words of the alluring female metamorph, Kamala, who could adapt and become the perfect mate of any male life form on the television series, 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' . The only woman who could play that role was Famke Janssen. That's how I was introduced to this dutch femme fatale.

Famke means 'little girl in Frisian (a Dutch dialect), and ironically, she is anything but little. Standing at a statuesque 5' 11'', a naturally beautiful young woman earned money through modeling gigs. She drew much attention for her beauty and moved to New York for more exposure. Her modeling career took off, and she was in high demand She was even once a Maybeline girl.

Famke is not just a looker, this lady has smarts; having studied at Columbia University, majoring in Literature and Creative Writing. While studying at Columbia, she tried acting classes and was instantly hooked onto the thrill of performing.

After graduation, Famke decided to move to Los Angeles to give acting a serious shot. She starred in a couple forgettable movie before making her break on the Star Trek guest spot. The role was quite memorable, more so in hindsight than it was at the time. Famke's metamorph tantalizes the crew of the Enterprise, captained by Patrick Stewart. Almost a decade later, she tantalized him again in X-Men. This time gifted with powers of telepathy and telekinesis as Jean Grey, his star student.

Famke began getting more minor roles in movies. But it was another actress milestone that propelled her to a serious Hollywood name. She was as the first Bond Girl of the newly rejuvenated Bond franchise in Goldeneye. Famke played Xenia Onatopp, the villainous assassin who crushes her victims to death with her thighs (ahem… only in Bond films!) But being a Bond girl is being among prestigous company.

Goldeneye brought Famke to everyone’s attention. but Janssen was wary - she was smart enough to realize that she was at a pivotal moment in her career. She could continue in the same vein and play up her sexuality and dark appeal, or she could try to branch out in other directions. She did not want to be typecast as only a sex object on screen and began taking on roles in a variety of independent films and smaller productions, most notably Woody Allen’s Celebrity, Rounders opposite Matt Damon (another of my favourite movies) and The Adventures of Sebastian Cole. This savvy starlet has also always been sure to maintain her mainstream recognition, with roles in films like The Faculty, House on Haunted Hill, X-Men, Made and most recently Don't Say a Word.

Being multi-talented, she also is multi-lingual, speaking four languages; Dutch, German, English and French. Perhaps Famke really is a metamorph! *Sigh* One can only hope. Famke has captured me right from the start with her beauty, her distinct soft voice and accent, her penetrating gaze. Later she enthralled me further with her attitude, sensibility, class and sensuality. Her performance on screen has never been dissappointed me, however I have yet to see her in a truly riveting leading role.

Maggie Cheung (張曼玉)

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this site is receiving international visitors. I guess the pursuit of the perfect babe is a desire that knows no borderss. That being said, I wonder how many of these visitors are really in searhc of porn, nude pictures or T&A. This is not the goal of Babe Theory, and the next international superstar is a great example of the babes that we like here at Babe Theory.com!

Maggie Cheung is well known the world over as a superior actress. Her many appearances in award winning films at international film festivals everywhere have established her as the premier Chinese actress. Maggie has often been the muse of Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai and has participated in many of his projects. North American film lovers will remember her role in the 2002 Academy nominated period film, Hero, starring other superstars such as Jet Li, Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi.

In Hong Kong and the Asian countries, Maggie is adored, respected and sought after. The western world have generally regarded her as an idol worthy of cult following and fanaticism. Many of her supporters label her as "the most beautiful woman in the world", and no one can really dismiss that claim easily.

Born in Hong Kong, Maggie received her education in England; which later allowed her to cross over to international films easily as she is often approached by foreign directors for their projects. Returning to Hong Kong, Maggie felt alienated by a strange culture that she did not grow up in, but such obstacles are nothing for a person with her character and fortitude. Like so many Hong Kong idols, she got her start participanting in the 1983 Miss Hong Kong pagent. Early in her career, she was typecasted as the simple, innocent girl type, and joined many forgettable comedies. She caught a break acting in the same capacity as Jackie Chan's girlfriend in 'Police Story' - a role that she would re-enact twice more in future films.

Comedy movies become an after thought shortly. Maggie was receiving serious roles in dramatic films. She was not afraid to experiment with daring projects. She gained international recognition with the 1996 film, Irma Vep. Maggie fell in love with France during her shooting there. France would resemble a second home to Maggie's Hong Kong.

Maggie has more acting talent packed in her little finger than many so called stars out there. Watching her stoic expresses, portraying hurt and pain beyond the depths of the characters heart. That vulnerable look while she is magnificiently displayed in a Chinese robe (she looks absolutely gorgeous in those robes), and you will see that one tiny movement in her facial expressions showcases more to the audience with that amazing imagery. She credits her skill to having graduated from "the school of hard knocks"; learning acting by acting and acting in many, many movies.

If you have not yet discover the wonderful world of Maggie Cheung, I'd recommend the following movies to dip right in like a warm bath. Besides the already mentioned films, I'd recommend Wong Kar-Wai's 'In The Mood For Love', '2046', 'Days Of Being Wild', and 'Ashes Of Time' for starters.

I also want to highlight her incredible on-screen chemistry with my favourite Chinese actor, Tony Leung. The duo have collaborated on many films and turned out spectacular performances each time! One of my all time favourites duo performance can be enjoyed with 'In The Mood For Love'.

Overall, Maggie Cheung is the embodiement of the total babe package. I hope that more people will discover and appreciate her contributions. This is what Babe Theory is all about!

Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek is one of my favourite latino ladies on my list. Therefore, she is the perfect candidate for me to correct the mistake of not showcasing any latinas on Babe Theory.com as yet. Why do I say it's a mistake? In my opinion, latin women have the heads up on most people to become babes because they are regarded as hot-blooded women, the hot tamale with fire in their belly, most often mistaken for being opinionated and strong willed. Whether this is a stereotypical myth, it certainly is the right attitude for starters when thinking about our Salma!

Salma started humbly in theatre productions, commercials and Mexican daytime soap series. She was quickly embraced by the Mexican audience but decided to persue a bigger market; moving to California. She broke out in terrific fashion in her debut, 'Desperado', with a sizzling sexy performance. More minor roles came for Selma but it was that unforgettable snake dance scene that she performed in Tarantino's 'From Dusk 'Till Dawn' that cemented her iconic sex symbol status. That image is forever burnt into my mind as well as many others!

Salma got her first leading role starring opposite Matthew Perry in the romantic comedy, 'Fools Rush In', which by the way is one of my favourtie movies in that genre. She didn't have to venture far from her hispanic roots as she displayed all the essential qualities a latina babe would have to possess. One look at the movie and I think you will agree with me about those qualities. Other notable movies where I've seen Salma are 'Wild Wild West' (a commercial decision but one that wasted her talents), and Kevin Smith's 'Dogma'. She can be my heavenly muse anytime!

Salma is a dedicated actress who put her heart into her craft. oen simple has to enjoy her inspiring performance in 'Frida' to realize she cares more about the movie than keeping up her sex icon image. In this day and age where stars pick and choose the roles that will keep them in the limelight, Selma shows that she's too much of a babe for all that nonsense. You couldn't keep Selma down even if you want to, perhaps a tribute to her red-blooded latino heritage!

Being young and beautiful, Salma is a well-known party fanatic in the hollywood scene. The girl knows how to have fun, but she does it with class! The paparazzi, who are constantly on the prowl for the next party related scandal, has really not had the button on Salma. Although, I'm not so certain about partying celebrities (as you rarely see them mentioned on Babe Theory), I submit that her maturity puts her in a much higher category.

Salma never forgets her root, and has returned to Mexico for various projects. Salma has always been a major supporter of the artistic community in Mexico. She has been decorated with awards for her acting talent. She has an impeccable sense of style and has been named one of the best dressed by People magazine. She went out briefly with Ed Norton, another favourite actor of mine, but unfortunately (or fortunately) parted ways recently.

Here's a story about Salma that should convince you of her babe worthiness. Salma has told how she was kidnapped at gunpoint and held for ransom - and loved it; she said "They put a gun to my head and I said, kill me. I believe in reincaranation. I'll just come back". Do you see what I mean now? What a dynamite babe!

Jessica Biel

I recently finished watching her latest movie, "Stealth". This bodacious babe has come far since America was first introduced to her in the television series, "7th Heaven". Jessica played Mary Camden and was thought of as the good girl type. She's tried very hard recently to change that image, choosing to star in action films such as "Blade: Trinity" previous to Stealth.

Admittedly, I am not a fan of 7th Heaven, but this bodacious babe did not escape the radar of men's magazine. Thank goodness, because I haven't stopped loving her style and attitude ever since! Jessica makes even a flight suit look sexy! I like my babes to be tough and be able to fend for themselves, but they should still retain their feminine self. Does that sound like someone familar?

I first saw Jessica on screen during her 2001 movie, "Summer Catch", playing Freddie Prinze Jr.'s love interest. A poorly rated movie at best by the critics, but I watched her simply for Jessica. She was devine as the tom-boyish Tenley, and I was oh so jealous during her pool scene! Who could forget her in that red bikini! Again, she looked oh so delectably prancing around in her lingerine in 2002's "The Rules Of Attraction", a satirical look at college life.

Jessica is never shy about her body and sexuality. She's even posed topless for Gear magazine! She proves herself worthy of action films through her work in Blade Trinity and Stealth, and I look forward to seeing her in more men oriented action films. Jessica is certainly a welcome change of role, playing a kick butt babe in such films, rather than a damsel in distress (although she kinda was one in Stealth). I saw a picture/rendition on the net, of what Jessica would like like in a remake of WonderWoman, all I have to do is Yowza. I hope they do start a production and cast her in the role, despite all the other celebrities in line.

The goddess babe has descended. We're not worthy, but we still hope for more from JB. She's already making a name for herself, but with her energy, this babe will make that becaon shine even brighter among the hollywood lights!

Apologies

I noticed that I'm starting to get a few readers on this site! Therefore, I believe apologies are in order for not posting a babe entry for Saturday! You see, the great downpour in the Greater Toronto Area has caused numerous floods all over the city. Some places were knee high. Others were up near the chest area! There were also numerous blackouts and huge traffic problems.

The house I lived in had the basement flooded due to it being in a lower lying area than surrounding residences. As well, we experienced a blackout sometime around 3pm Friday. Power was not restored until 24 hours later and I'm writing this as soon as power was restored to the laptop.

It was a humbling experience, and a testament to how frail humans really are! That's why, while we are here on this earth. We should enjoy the sights and sounds and everything around. That includes babes as well! I will start posting again for Sunday, and we'll keep this entry for today in rememberance of the great flood!

Sheryl Crow

I started this website with Tanya Chua, who is acclaimed by her fans to be the Chinese Sheryl Crow. Why didn't I take a look earlier at the original Sheryl? Ok, after beating myself up over that mistake, I have to gather myself to walk down memory lane. My love affair with Sheryl started right from her first album, and it's still going strong!

Since Tuesday Night Music Club, Sheryl's albums has been a mainstay in my album rotations. When I meet someone new, what do I first notice uniquely about them? Is it the eyes? the face? the figure? Truth be told, all those qualities may be great and beautiful, but hardly unique. As hip hop artist Guru claimed, "It's mostly the voice..." And Sheryl absolutely has the best, most unique set of vocals and accent of any rock chick that I know of. Her voice is set on permanent sexy and everybody recognizes it when it comes on the radio.

Sheryl started a singing career singing backup to Michael Jackson, Don Henley but graduated to a heavyweight rockstar with her debut single 'All I Wanna Do'. She is an artist in the truest sense, writing her own songs, playing musical instruments and knows how to bring the house down at her concerts. Her early songwriting was picked up by the likes of Celine Dion, Wynonna Judd and Eric Clapton. As her reputation grew, she caught the break to do a record deal with A&M. Overnight, she bursted onto the music scene in 1995, winning Best New Artist, Best Female Rock Vocal, and Record of the Year at the Grammys.

There are so many songs of hers to highlight. They all have commercial airplay appeal as well as the streetcred to avoid being labeled as purely pop. Her musical style includes well crafted ballads, good time rock-n-roll, and is refreshing compared to the angst, sex and desolations prevailing in modern music. She is a rock traditionalist in her composition style and arrangments, but her metaphorical poetic lyrics showcase her free spirit and willingness to explore.

Sheryl has had 4 hugely successful album, and has not turned out one bad album to date. My favourite Crow album has got to be 'The Globe Sessions', where she was simply at her peak. I'm a sucker for babes who reveal their vulnerability and I feel Sheryl really portrayed that quality during this album. But listen to all her albums, the mainstay airplay songs are all excellent, and every listener will have his or her own hidden gems on each album that they can relate to.

Her talents are not the only reasons for her babe selection. Looking mighty fine in those leather pants, she is truly a beauty, who's comfortable in a style of her own. She defines the natural, carefree and strong woman. From brunette to blonde, Sheryl looks follow her evolution from a serious artist to a fun loving girl living the moment! I don't know what is it about me and women with guitars, it brings forth the primal lust to see a babe like Sheryl strumming those chords!

A strong woman deserves a strong man, and there's no one with a stronger will than Sheryl's beau, 7-time Tour de France champion, Lance Armstrong. I hope that family life will not bog her down too much to prevent her from turning out more music. Talented and beautiful, Sheryl Crow is an original babe. Others may come, and be compared to her, but we will all remember the babe that rocked it first!

Maria Sharapova

It's about time we get a sports babe on this site! And what an entry! Maria Sharapova is the main attraction of the Rogers Cup tennis tournament that is currently running in the Greater Toronto Area where I reside. The inspiration for this comes from all the posters I can seeing of her around town, and I decided that it's about time she got her dues.

Anna Kournikova revolutionize women's tennis with her style and commercial appeal. But Maria Sharapova has become what Anna should have been, but could not attain. Maria is a tennis babe that is both sweet, beautiful and above all a winner! Yes, Anna could never win a tennis match even if her life depended on it. She still got all the endorsements and attention however. Maria is a proven winner, with a career high ranking of #2 in the world as of this article's writing. She has won tournaments, something that Anna could not understand or comprehend. So in my books, Maria is the hands down winner of this babe contest.

This 6 foot tall statuesque, long-legged, long blonde haired babe moves with the greatest of ease on the tennis courts. Off the courts, she is a highly sought-after advertiser's dream. And why not? She's beautiful, talented, young and sky's the limit. At the age of 17, she become the 2nd youngest Wimbledon finalist and won the tournament in 2004.

Sharapova epitomizes the natural classical beauty of blonde russian women. I admire her talents and tenacity much more, since she has worked hard through her childhood to achieve celebrity status so quickly. No women in tennis can quite be compared to Maria. She is the "it" girl. This cover girl will won more championships, more hearts and is an undeniable choice for our first sports babe of Babe Theory!

Ming-Na Wen (溫明娜)

Ming-Na is a babe of rare distinction. She is one of the more successful Asian-American in the entertainment industry as well as an underrated Asian star in the tough world of Hollywood. Being Asian-American can be a tough road, you're striving for acknowledgement from the East and digging up from ignorance from the West.

It helps that Ming-Na is beautiful, charasmatic, and energtic. With her smooth skin, luminous dark eyes and hair that rivals that of anyone in a Pantene commercial. Ming-na possess the "It" factor that attracts attention wherever she goes. She possess a razor-sharp wit and infectious laugh that causes people to turn and look

Ming-Na has come a long way since her big-screen debut as June in the 1993 film adaptation of Amy Tan’s popular novel, 'The Joy Luck Club'. But She is far from the conservative Chinese daughter she played in that film. Looking like she just stepped off the pages of a fashion magazine, Ming-Na has a sophisticated, funky style that's all her own. She knew acting was her calling from an early age. “After my first play I was hooked because it was such a powerful way to affect people,” she recalls. Theater wasn’t her only interest in school; although it’s hard to imagine this style-maven being the president of her school’s science fiction club, she is a self-professed “sci-fi geek.” Bonus Points!

Ming-Na has been involved in many Hollywood blockbusters; such as being Chun Li, the kick butt videogame babe in 'Street Fighter'. She starred as the leading lady opposite Wesley Snipes in 'One Night Stand', a film that examined inter-racial relationships and garnered her strong reviews. Adding to Ming-Na's hollywood credentials are lead voice-over performances in animations such as Disney's Mulan, Mulan II, and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.

Ming-Na has been named to People magazine's list of 50 most beautiful people. The popular Asian-American Magazine, A, recently voted her as one of the 100 most influential Asian Americans of the past decade.

When not supplying voices to strong Asian-influenced female characters, Ming-Na is busy on television. Early in her career, she appeared in the daytime soap 'As The World Turns', and the short-lived TV comedy series 'The Single Guy'. Currently, Ming-Na can be enjoyed in new and re-run episodes of NBC's top-rated drama ER, as Dr. Deborah Chen.

Ming-Na has always played strong female characters in her roles. But she is strong in the real world too! Not content with being a success herself, Ming-Na looks to open new doors and opportunities to promote the Asian-American culture. This is why Ming-Na and her husband, Eric Michael Zee, a writer and actor, are going in a different direction, producing the Asian American R&B boy band, 'At Last'.

Want more babe qualities? Ming-Na enjoys playing poker! She is comfortable taking risks at the poker table. She's even won a World Poker Tour: Hollywood Home Game tournament for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer, in honor of a friend who survived her fight with breast cancer.

So what's not to like about Ming-Na? An inspirational Asian-American success story. A wonderful actress with film and television credentials. A budding music producer, poker babe, and participant of numerous charity organizations. And oh, the babe is damn proud to be Asian!

Thandie Newton

Thandie the seductress... Miss Newton is high on my list whenever it comes to a new movie with her name attached on the roster. In 2 of my favourite Thandie movies, she's been nothing short of sexy as well as a little devious.. perfect babe combination! Those 2 movies? They are the Tom Cruise led 'Mission Impossible' and the relatively unknown all star independent gambling film featuring Sylvester Stallone, 'Shade'.

Fine-boned and soft-spoken, Thandie Newton displays a deceptive fragility that is betrayed by the strong, resilient characters she often portrays. Perhaps that's why she's in high demand for such roles, because she portrays the visual paradox so well on the silver screens. Thandie was born to a Zimbabwean mother and British father. I've always maintained the children of mixed relationships often turn out to be very beautiful. It's the gene pool's telling us to embrace global unity!

She broke into actor after meeting Australian director John Duigan, while a private school in North London. Thandie won the leading rule in his coming-of-age tale 'Flirting' (1991). Her next film of any significance was a minor role in 'Interview With the Vampire'. Throughout her actress evolution, Thandie has worked with superstars like Nicole Kidman, Tom Cruise, Jason Patric, Nick Nolte, James Earl Jones, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jon Bon Jovi, Tim Roth and Tupac Shakur. She never looked out of step and often caught the gazes of critices in her mainstream and independent films.

Although Thandie was still a relatively obscure name in Hollywood, things change quickly when she started appearing in films like Gridlock'd, a film that won Newton raves for her turn as a heroine-addicted jazz singer . She went on to star in Beloved, a highly anticipated adaptation of Toni Morrison's novel, and for her portrayal of the mysterious, ghostly girl who torments Oprah Winfrey's Sethe. Finally, it was with her third film of 1998, Besieged, that Newton graduated from relative obscurity to the rank of Hollywood Up and Comer.

2000 was the year Thandie Newton became a household name, when she was casted opposite Tom Cruise in John Woo's 'Mission Impossible II'. Although the film received mixed reviews, Newton earned almost unanimous approval from critics, who praised her strong, dynamic performance. Her latest works include 'The Chronicles Of Riddick' with Vin Diesel, and the cult favourite 'Shade' starring alongside all-star casts such as Sylvestor, Stallone, Melanie Griffith, Gabriel Byrne, Stuart Townsend, and Jamie Foxx.

Sultry looks combined with that sexy "what do you think" smile and dimple. You're instantly drawn in by the temptress's biddings. She has played many strong, tough and even devious characters, you would think that she's somewhat like that in her real life. In fact it is true, this babe is so tough, she even opt for no anasthetics and chose home birth. But Thandie still remains very down to earth. Look forward to more exciting performances from Thandie in the future! This babe will absolutely deliver a winning performance!
