Audrey Hepburn

Today, we pay homage to the original babe. Perhaps, one of the most beautiful ladies to ever grace the silver screens. Playing indelible timeless characters like Holly Golightly, Sabrina Fairchild and Eliza Doolittle, Audrey Hepburn has been the epitome of glam and class on screen, as well as having an electric influential personal style off screen.

The star of movie classics such as 'Roman Holiday', 'Sabrina', 'Breakfast At Tiffany's' and 'My Fair Lady'. This oscar winner was perhaps one of the most photographed actresses of the 20th century before the advent of the papparazzi. The fashion media watched her every step, and is widely regarded as the most influential 'style icon' of the fashion of her era.

Audrey Hepburn was style incarnated. Everything she wore, or touched was imitated and copied; even the transportation she used! Vespa scooters became famous and remembered for only one single reason - the image of Audrey whizzing around Rome, on a Vespa in "Roman Holiday".

No self-respecting lady will be caught dead without a little black dress in their wardrobe, thanks to the sassy, charming Holly Golightly who had men wrapped around her fingers in "Breakfast At Tiffany's". She was a long time friend of Hubert de Givenchy, her long time personal stylist, but was also instrumental in bringing to the fashion forefront, Ferragamo and Valentino.

Much have been and still being written about the style influence of Audrey Hepburn. This accomplished actor showcased a wide range of characters and has always been critically acclaimed for her work. Audrey was obviously beautiful and talented, but the main reason so many people have fallen in love with her because she was able to let them see the silent beautiy that laid within. She was a tremendous advocate for humane work, and still continues her cause with UNICEF through The Audrey Hepburn Children Fund. This european born babe has since departed from us, but she will not be forgotten for touching so many lives during her stay with us.

I do agree that Audrey Hepburn is a 10/10 in the babe factor. She did many great things in her time on earth. I do not however believe that she should be brought back to life in a Gap commercial. I think it is tacky to use such an amazing lady as a skinny jean, 80’s icon. Ms. Hepburn should be used a in a more timely fashion advertisement as a high style symbol, not a figure for a clothing chain. In her time, I know that she was idolized for her forward fashion sense. It is not right to display Ms. Hepburn's dance skills to AC/DC while dressed in skinny jeans and a black shirt. Audrey Hepburn should remain a classic style fashion goddess.
