Let's start this website with my favourite babe, the incomparable
Tanya Chua! Tanya, an accomplished singer, composer and songwriter is a sentimental favourite because I discovered her talents before she become famous. I downloaded mp3s from her first album and while listening to them at work, I found that I kept repeating her songs. Her music is easy to listen to, meaningful and approached materials and subjects much differently than existing chinese popstars. I was drawn by her talent, and her very sexy voice. Not being a manufactured popstar, as so many chinese singers are, certainly put her in a very different category and very babe worthy!

She is hailed as the "Sheryl Crow" of the chinese music scene
and cites the likes of Joni Mitchell and Ella Fitzgerald as her musical influences. Besides being popular in her own albums, she has also collabarated and is in demand by music heavyweights such as Faye Wong, Fish Leong, Valen Hsu, Rene Liu, Gigi Leung, Amei Chang to name a few. Her unique musical expression has garnered her many awards and accolades throughout her career.

Tanya composes songs in both english & mandarin, I personally like her english songs much more as I feel she expresses her thoughts better in english. I have followed her career and despite not buying CDs anymore, I do buy her CDs to show my support for her. When I first saw her album covers, she was not promoted as a sex object, but rather a plain jane rocker type. But she has discovered her outer beauty as part of her evolution, while I had already fallen for her inner beauty! A perfect soulmate!

Update: Tanya Chua has won the BEST FEMALE SINGER of 2006 award at the 17th Golden Melody awards!
