Sheryl Crow

I started this website with Tanya Chua, who is acclaimed by her fans to be the Chinese Sheryl Crow. Why didn't I take a look earlier at the original Sheryl? Ok, after beating myself up over that mistake, I have to gather myself to walk down memory lane. My love affair with Sheryl started right from her first album, and it's still going strong!

Since Tuesday Night Music Club, Sheryl's albums has been a mainstay in my album rotations. When I meet someone new, what do I first notice uniquely about them? Is it the eyes? the face? the figure? Truth be told, all those qualities may be great and beautiful, but hardly unique. As hip hop artist Guru claimed, "It's mostly the voice..." And Sheryl absolutely has the best, most unique set of vocals and accent of any rock chick that I know of. Her voice is set on permanent sexy and everybody recognizes it when it comes on the radio.

Sheryl started a singing career singing backup to Michael Jackson, Don Henley but graduated to a heavyweight rockstar with her debut single 'All I Wanna Do'. She is an artist in the truest sense, writing her own songs, playing musical instruments and knows how to bring the house down at her concerts. Her early songwriting was picked up by the likes of Celine Dion, Wynonna Judd and Eric Clapton. As her reputation grew, she caught the break to do a record deal with A&M. Overnight, she bursted onto the music scene in 1995, winning Best New Artist, Best Female Rock Vocal, and Record of the Year at the Grammys.

There are so many songs of hers to highlight. They all have commercial airplay appeal as well as the streetcred to avoid being labeled as purely pop. Her musical style includes well crafted ballads, good time rock-n-roll, and is refreshing compared to the angst, sex and desolations prevailing in modern music. She is a rock traditionalist in her composition style and arrangments, but her metaphorical poetic lyrics showcase her free spirit and willingness to explore.

Sheryl has had 4 hugely successful album, and has not turned out one bad album to date. My favourite Crow album has got to be 'The Globe Sessions', where she was simply at her peak. I'm a sucker for babes who reveal their vulnerability and I feel Sheryl really portrayed that quality during this album. But listen to all her albums, the mainstay airplay songs are all excellent, and every listener will have his or her own hidden gems on each album that they can relate to.

Her talents are not the only reasons for her babe selection. Looking mighty fine in those leather pants, she is truly a beauty, who's comfortable in a style of her own. She defines the natural, carefree and strong woman. From brunette to blonde, Sheryl looks follow her evolution from a serious artist to a fun loving girl living the moment! I don't know what is it about me and women with guitars, it brings forth the primal lust to see a babe like Sheryl strumming those chords!

A strong woman deserves a strong man, and there's no one with a stronger will than Sheryl's beau, 7-time Tour de France champion, Lance Armstrong. I hope that family life will not bog her down too much to prevent her from turning out more music. Talented and beautiful, Sheryl Crow is an original babe. Others may come, and be compared to her, but we will all remember the babe that rocked it first!
